Dear Friends and Donors,
It was a busy week preparing and launching the campaign and not without its rewards. We solidified our core filming team by welcoming Brooklyn-based Robbie Gregson as Director of Cinematography, Portland, Oregon-based Kelley Baker as a Co-Producer and technical consultant, and Richmond, VA based Jeff Hathaway as Music Supervisor. I can’t be more pleased with the development of the team and these team-members. They are all talented people who want to make unique independent documentary film.
We have also slowly moved our fundraising thermometer upward. $2175.00 raised so far. But we hope to gather a bit more momentum over the next few days. The number of donors is just as important as the dollars raised, as it represents an exponential opportunity to expand our network. The work here continues.
On the research and production side, we are moving steadily toward our ability to start shooting in May. If our BIG TENT campaign is successful that will get the team working on the first three official interviews and the collection of archival and technical elements that will result in a full script and official preview for public audiences. These in turn will help our municipal and corporate grant approaches.
We have currently identified 10 interview subjects, with room for one or two more. But a 90 minute film is absolutely the target now.
Thank you again for spreading the word and reaching out to your friends and contacts in a proactive way. It will make all the difference. And as always, don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions and feedback at any time.
All best and more next week.
